February 12, 2015, Lance Noe wrote about his Mother
Just prior to her freshman year, Elise Stoops moved with her family to a rural home located on Highway 44 just west of the intersection of Highways 169 and 44.   Following graduation from Dallas Center, she attended and graduated from Iowa State University.  She married and raised a family in Adel, IA and taught for much of her life.  She was also active in 4H as a leader and for several years served as a judge for the annual State 4H Clothing Style Review.  Elise died following a brief illness in May of 1991.

Elise married John Noe of Adel in 1957 and they remained married for the remainder of her life.  Living in Adel, IA, Elise and John raised two children, Lance born in 1961 and Claudette (Noe) Sederburg born in 1963.  Both children graduated from Iowa State University and pursued their respective careers.  Lance is married to spouse Debbie and they have a son Caleb who is currently in elementary school.  Claudette is married to spouse Kelvin and they have two children Morgan and Bryce who are pursuing college.  Both families live in West Des Moines.  John (Adel class of 1950) who retired from teaching in the Waukee school system remains in good health and lives in Adel.  Elise’s younger sister Freda Stoops (Bauer) is married with three adult children and many grandchildren and lives in Omaha, Nebraska with spouse Lyle.

In 1959, Elise graduated from ISU with a degree in Home Economics Education.  In the fall of 1959 she spent the year teaching in the Central Dallas school system.  Her Minburn experience also involved making a daily trip to the Washington Township school located just west of Minburn.  For years afterwards former students from Washington township and Minburn would approach the family wishing to reconnect with “Mrs. Noe”.  Elise then took a break from teaching to begin a family and spent the remainder of the 1960s with family and working with 4-H.  In the early 1970’s she returned to teaching in the Waukee, IA school district teaching over the years Home Economics, English, and Family Living.  She was a much loved teacher by students and was a confidant and mentor for many.  Elise continued teaching until her passing in 1991.

Elise and family attended a 20th year reunion [1975] and much enjoyed reconnecting with classmates.  Her Dallas Center friendships continued throughout her life.  In particular, nearly every year during the summer she, Mary Jo Peitzman and Kay Fox found time to spend a day together
catching up on life.
