We live at 316 West Warford.  We have a second hand thrift shop located at 1223 Willis downtown across from Fareway in Perry.

We have four children—Robert, Roger, Dennis and Donna, and four grandchildren: Jessica, Scott, Kaylia and Andrew—and one great granddaughter, Taylor, who is three years old.

Since graduation I’ve raised a family, worked 20 years at Perry Manor Nursing Home, while my husband worked 19 years at Oscar Mayor Meat Packing.  We have the store now for 23 years.

To me, high school seemed easier to learn than seventh and eighth grade as there weren’t as many subjects to learn.  Shorthand was fun, as was glee club and mixed chorus.

GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS ONE SCHOOL ONLY FOR THE FOUR OF US

I remember that only four of us went the whole trip from kindergarten through twelfth grade in the same school in Dallas Center.  I am one of them. *
All the girls had to wear dresses or skirts at school.  I don't remember any girls wearing jeans.
Is remember going from eighth grade into ninth grade, beginning high school, when the tenth graders were allowed to require us, the freshmen, to do/wear silly things for a day, freshman initiation.   Darlene Howe and I wore paper feed sack dresses over our clothes.
Life has been good to me.  I have a wonderful husband, Orvie.  We will have been married 60 years in December.  We have four children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
We retired in 2007.  We do a lot of exercise walking at the hospital, church activities, watching television and family activities.
I sent some pictures, darlene and me dressed for freshmen initiation, Avis and me at the Iowa State Fair in 1952, some of Miss Sterrett, probably at our first reunion (1975, 20th-year) at Memorial Hall in Dallas Center, a couple of pictures of the 2005 50th anniversary reunion as we rode on the hay rack in the Dallas Center Fall Festival Parade and my second grade report card complete with a couple of D's.

PS: I got your address from the phone book since all you had on your flyer was a computer address, "Grandpa Carl."

* The other three are Joyce Bennett MdGlothlen, Rose Zimmerman Travis and Dick Hoover
