I reside on a farm located just east of Guthrie Center, Iowa, with husband, Don, several cats, dogs, horses and cattle.  We enjoy camping and music festivals, both country and blue grass and our trips to see friends.

In November of this year Don and I will celebrate 50 years together.  We have three children:  Larry and wife, Glenda, granddaughter Stephanie and grandson, Bryan; Terry is single and lives 5 miles from the farm; Donna and Steve live in Panora and have Kimberley and Matt.  Kimberly has two little boys:  Christian and Zander.  We are very proud of our grandkids, but like to give special note on Stephanie.  She has graduated form Gainesville, FL with a master’s in criminal justice and plans to continue her studies.  After she is finished, she plans to teach.

I have lived in only three other towns since 1955.  We did the “circle”:  Perry, Grand Junction and Guthrie Center.  For several years I worked at The New Homestead Care Home in the business office and I retired from there and do work some days when I’m called at our local clothing store.  From 1980 – 1985, I operated my own clothing store in Perry.

I enjoyed my years at Dallas Center High and being with my class mates.  I just wanted to mention that I have never missed a class reunion.

IOWA SMALL TOWN LIFE IN THE 1950'S
Two requisites for belonging in our town in our times were easily met. 1. get your name in the newspaper and 2. be in the town parade at least once.  Here you see that Joan was well on her way at an early age.
